An NFT stands for Non Fungible Token. It is a unique digital asset that represents ownership of real-world items. NFTs are designed to give you something that cannot be copied and is secure.

Our use of NFTs will securely allow consumers to connect with the Australian Agave Project through a secure entitlement that provides proof of ownership and built-in authentication, through a smart contract.

We are leveraging blockchain and token technology, the most sophisticated technology available today for managing digital assets to enable the The Australian Agave NFT. Additionally, the use of this technology enables the simple transfer of the rights associated with each NFT to other via sale on any relevant NFT marketplace.

Your spirit will be like no other – unique and exclusive to you and only you due to the bespoke nature of the micro-batch distilling process of your plants.

NFT owners may also receive from time-to-time invitations to exclusive events as well as samples or tastings of the Australian Agave Project Spirit.

How do I get an Australian Agave NFT?

You can purchase it with ease through your credit card. You only require an Etheruem wallet, and if you don’t have an Ethereum wallet one will be created during the Australian Agave NFT purchase process.

All owners of the Australian Agave NFT must have an account in the Australian Agave Project Members Portal to be able to redeem the benefits associated with the ownership of the NFT.

What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain with smart contract functionality. Ether is the native cryptocurrency of the platform. Amongst cryptocurrencies, Ether is second only to Bitcoin in market capitalization.

Can my NFT be traded?

Yes, like all NFTs they can be on sold by the owner. You can do this by listing your token for sale on any NFT marketplace, with the owner setting the terms for sale.

How many Australian Agave NFTs are available?

There will only be 100 tokens of this exclusive offering minted in the first year.

Subsequent tokens of this exclusive level may be minted in the following year.

Can I pick the plants myself?

You can select the field where your 10 plants will be grown in from one of four prized agave fields on the farm – each with their own unique characteristics. The characteristics of these fields will deliver uniqueness to the bottle.

Your plants will be geotagged, and via the Australian Agave NFT members portal you will be able to follow their growth and maturity until they are harvested and distilled in an individual micro-batch.

We will notify the NFT owner when their plants will be harvested should you wish to visit the farm and see the process firsthand.

Why is it not called tequila?

Tequila has Appellation of Origin protection meaning it can only be grown in five states in Mexico, the main one being Jalisco where you will find the town of Tequila. Much like champagne needs to come from the Champagne region in France and port from Porto in Portugal.

Tequila can also only contain Agave tequilana webber azul, or Blue Agave. Our agave spirit is distilled from the same blue agave plants that they make tequila from.

What makes my spirit so unique?

Your batch of 10 plants will be entirely bespoke, distilled in a single micro batch, making it one of the most exclusive artisanal spirits in the world. From the farm to the bottle.

Each batch cannot be replicated as your individual agave plants will be the only agave in the bespoke production cycle, thus meaning this batch will never be re-produced.

The flavour of any individual batch of agave spirit is the result of the growing conditions, weather, and terroir of the plants. As such, each individual NFT batch is the unique flavour of only those 10 plants.

When will I see my final finished spirit?

We envisage your final bespoke spirit will be available to you from August 2023 but until then we will keep you updated on the journey of your plants through exclusive behind the scenes experiences.

We only have the capacity to distill three tokens per week via this bespoke distilling method. NFT owners will be advised when their production date is scheduled for in early-mid 2023.

Can I choose when my distillation happens?

Due to the bespoke nature of the micro-batch distillation only a certain number of plants can be processed in any one week. We will liaise directly with NFT owners on when their plants are ready for distillation should they wish to visit the farm and see the process firsthand.

How much spirit will I receive from my 10 plants?

You will receive the yield from a single batch cycle using only agave from your geo tagged plants.

You will receive a minimum of 35 litres provided in the form of a 10L barrel for maturation and a minimum of 35 700ml bottle equivalents of spirit (blanco).

Tequila is traditionally bottled as unaged spirit – Blanco and as aged expressions – Reposado and Anejo.

To enjoy the full potential of your single bespoke production, we bottle both your spirit as a blanco, and provide you with a personal 10lt oak barrel for maturing your spirit, which we will monitor to achieve the perfect balance of agave flavours and oak before we bottle it for you as an aged expression.

What if my plants yield more liquid?

Yes, if yield from a single batch cycle produces a greater yield, this will be provided to the NFT owner in bottle form. The NFT holder will be entitled to the entire yield from one bespoke distillation cycle.

Once I get my final product will there be other opportunities to get more bespoke spirit made?

Yes, Australian Agave NFT members will have the first opportunity to purchase a new NFT that is linked to pups from the existing plants, thus beginning the process again.

Pups are offshoots of the agave plant that can be removed from the main plant by exposing the root and cutting through them and then re-planting.

The pups from a unique plant are genetic clones of the ‘mother’ that have unique flavour characters. Via this process, an NFT holder can nurture and maintain a genetic line that creates a specific and unique flavour profile of spirit over time.

What happens if something happens to my plants?

If any of your geotagged plants are damaged or destroyed due to reasons beyond TSI’s reasonable control we will notify you of the extent of the damage.

TSI will then substitute the same number of agave plants, from the same field, with similar characteristics and age as those destroyed, in order to produce replacement products.

You will be able to follow the journey of your specific plants through state-of-the-art technology that allows geo-coded individual plants to be tracked and monitored for health and growth throughout the project.

Owners will also be able to keep up to date with their plants through exclusive behind the scenes access and updates from the farm through the online members portal.
